Bara Bhangal trek is one of the hardest and most adventurous treks in Himachal Pradesh. It is a high-altitude trek nestled at 4875 mts above sea level. It is an alpine terrain between the Kullu Valley and Dharamshala is one of the most spectacular and little-known regions of the Western Himalaya.

Short itinerary for Bara Bhangal Trek
Day 1: Manali – Lamadugh
Arrive at Manali, start your trek to Lamadugh. This trek takes you through thick forest and you get distinct views of different faces of Indrasan, Deo Tibba and peaks of Bara Shigri glacier. Dinner and overnight stay at Lama Dugh.
Day 2: Lamadugh – Riyali Thach
After breakfast, start your trek to Riyali Thach. The trek is through steep a ridge below Khand Pari Tibba. You can witness a magnificent glimpse of Manali on the left bank of River Beas and the whole upper Kullu valley. Dinner and overnight stay at Riyali Thach.
Day 3: Riyali Thach – Kalihani Base
After breakfast, start trek to Kalihani Base. The trail proceeds over open meadows initially followed by a steep descent to a stream. Make sure you catch the views of Deo Tibba and Indrasan peaks from the campsite. Dinner and overnight stay at Kalihani Base.
Day 4: Kalihani Base – Kalihani Top – Devi Ki Marhi
After breakfast, start trekking to Kalihani Top. After reaching Kalihani top enjoy the 360 degree view of hanging glaciers which are Pir Panjal and Dhauladhar Ranges. Then start trekking to Devi Ki Marhi.
Day 5: Devi Ki Marhi – Jal Marhi
After breakfast, Start trekking to Jal Marhi. The trail first crosses over the Kalihani Nullah and descends into the oak and birch forests. Dinner and overnight stay at Jal Marhi.
Day 6: Jal Marhi – Bara Bhangal
After breakfast, start trekking to the main attraction of this trek that is Bara Bhangal Trek. Dinner and overnight stay at Bara Bhangal.
Day 7: Bara Bhangal
You will spend a day at the Bara Bhangal village, meeting the locals and exploring this village stuck in time.
Day 8: Bara Bhangal – Mardh
After breakfast, start your trek to Mardh. The trail takes you through pine, deodar and birch forests with mountain streams to break the monotony.
Day 9: Mardh – Palachak
After breakfast, Start trek to Palachak. The climb is broken by a small lake just below the pass. From on top of Thamsar, you will get your first glimpse of the lush Kangra valley.
Day 10: Palachak – Dharamshala
After breakfast, start your drive to Dharamshala.
